Meat Loaf is taking to Broadway on November 2nd, for a single-night performance in the 1,700 seat Palace Theater, which will showcase all three of his Bat Out Of Hell albums. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Saturday (October 7th), but fans can log in to Ticketmaster ahead of time to purchase advance tickets, using the code BAT3.
Bat Out Of Hell III - The Monster Is Loose comes out October 31st.

Real `Itsy Bitsy' songwriter still alive |

The man who co-wrote the song "Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini" had the unsettling experience this week of reading his own obituary - the result of an impostor who went through life claiming to be the author of the 1960s smash hit.
On Tuesday, The Associated Press reported on the death of a 68-year-old man named Paul Van Valkenburgh of Ormond Beach, Fla., who claimed to have written the song under the name Paul Vance.
But the music industry's real Paul Vance, a 76-year-old man from Coral Springs, Fla., is alive and well.
The Paul Vance who wrote the songs - and provided proof with royalty payments he is still receiving for the hit - said he has been inundated with calls from people who think he died.
"Do you know what it's like to have grandchildren calling you and say, 'Grandpa, you're still alive?'" he said in a telephone interview from Coral Springs. "This is not a game. I am who I am and I'm proud of who I am. But these phones don't stop with people calling thinking I'm dead."
The living Paul Vance estimated he has made several million dollars from the song, which was recorded by 16-year-old teen idol Brian Hyland, surged to No. 1 on the Billboard charts in August 1960 and has been pop culture staple ever since.
"It's a money machine," Vance said.
To prove he is the real songwriter, Vance provided royalty statements showing dozens of payments for the tune sent to his address in Westbury, N.Y., where he lived before moving to Florida.
Vance said he has no animosity toward the impostor or his wife. |

McDonald brings his blue-eyed soul home |

White-haired, blue-eyed soul singer Michael McDonald has made so much of his career that it's easy to forget where the Grammy-winner came from - and we're not just talking about growing up in Ferguson, attending McCluer High School or playing in St. Louis bands including Blue or the Sheratons.
We remember his key membership in the Doobie Brothers, singing lead on "What a Fool Believes" and "Takin' It to the Streets"; a solo career that included "I Keep Forgettin'" and "Sweet Freedom"; and his more recent "Motown" CDs.
Between honing his chops in St. Louis and joining the Doobie Brothers, McDonald also put in a stint as an adjunct member of Steely Dan in the mid-'70s.
"I did one tour behind the 'Pretzel Logic' (1974) album," McDonald said in a recent interview from his home near Nashville, Tenn. "We played the U.S. and Europe, and then the band broke up, and it was Donald Fagen and Walter Becker from then on. ... I was always just a sideman."
Now, McDonald, 54, is much more than a sideman in Becker and Fagen's eyes. Steely Dan and McDonald are on a successful tour this summer that wraps up tonight at UMB Bank Pavilion.
"As much as I love opening for them and playing with my band, I like getting up there with them on a couple of numbers," McDonald says. "That's a real throwback."

AL BELL AND ALPINE RECORDS JOIN THE ENT PRESENTS GROUP !
In the 1970's, two of the largest African-American owned businesses in America were Motown Records and Stax Records. Al Bell is the former owner of Stax Records.
During his years as head of Stax Records, Al Bell introduced marketing and promotional innovations, which changed the direction of the nation's music industry. Stax produced gold and platinum hits on such varied artists as Isaac Hayes, the Staple Singers, Johnny Taylor, Sam And Dave, Booker T and the MG's, the Bar Kays, Otis Redding, The Emotions, Carla Thomas, Rufus Thomas, Richard Pryor, Bill Cosby, Billy Eckstine, Albert King, The Dramatics and a host of others.
In the 1980's, Al Bell became head of the Motown Records Group and worked with Berry Gordy in the sale of Motown to the MCA/Boston Ventures Group. After Motown, he discovered the music group Tag Team and released "Whoomp! There It Is" which sold over 5,000,000 single units. This record was one of the biggest selling singles in the history of the music industry.
Al Bell was asked by "the artist" formerly known as Prince to release a single record for him, after his label Warner Brothers Records turned him down. Using his unique style of marketing and promotion, Al Bell released "The Most Beautiful Girl In The World" and gave Prince his biggest selling single ever.
In the recently published book by Rob Bowman chronicling the history of Stax Records titled "Soulsville USA: The Stax Records Story," Jesse Jackson is quoted saying that, "Stax was not just a record company. It was a sound. It was a piece of culture. It was a moment of conscience and experience of mankind. At the right time, it meant a lot to us. People still heavily borrow upon the tradition of Stax and the lineage laid down by the very special genius of Al Bell."
Over the years, Al Bell has received many honors and awards, including Executive of the Year, Bill Gavin Radio Program Conference, 1971; National Leadership Award from the National Business League in 1972 and 1973; NAACP Founder’s Award, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, 1975; Inductee, America’s Music and Entertainment of Fame, 1980; Gospel Music Award of the Year, Southeast Music Conference, 1993 and NARM INDIE Best Seller Award ("Whoomp! There It Is"), 1994. Last year, Al Bell received the W. C Handy Lifetime Achievement Award and was inducted into the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame.
